A short review of the drivers league from previous years shows the success story of this competition, which is based on economical driving , and held all over Europe. The combination of economic driving and sporting competition make this event more and more popular and as the truck drivers take a lot of effort to earn these perfect scores the results depend on them. In 2004 nearly 700 truck drivers from 80 companies across Europe took part in this event. In 2005 that figure doubled and1,600 drivers from 123 companies participated. In the year of the soccer world championship, 2006, the 2, 000 mark was exceed and the year after more than 3, 500 drivers took part. The performance at the top of the ranking was so close in 2007, it was apparent that more and more drivers were starting to take a closer look at economic viability.
Because of the technical complexity of the telematics, and the truck itself, it is really important to handle the truck perfectly to fulfil the highly increasing requirements of the daily work of a truck driver. But not only is this a positive outcome of the one month long drivers league, the drivers also earn appreciation, have fun and are motivated.
For the duration of the competition the drivers can check their driving results many times a day and rack their brains about how to shake off their opponents and be the best.

Regardless of whether the company has just implemented FleetBoard or whether they are long time customers, everyone benefits from the enhanced motivation of their drivers and the sporting nature of this competition. They can use the drivers’ league to conduct an internal championship or to inform themselves about how efficient the competitors are on the road.

For 2008 the drivers’ league will expand.  As well as the “best driving performance“, an exciting final for the “Top 20” will take place. In this live final competition these top 20 drivers will then compete to find the champion, the most efficient, safe and skilful driver.
