It’s the first time, that the company Von Bergen takes part. For our technique and logistics team FleetBoard is a chance to improve, the progress the driver made at the economical driving style, the consumption and the workflow. The drivers, who take part at the FleetBoard Drivers League 2008 are working all over Switzerland and are in the age between 25 and 60 years. They had to take up the challenge and work hard at their economical driving style. Due to the experience and very good qualification of our drivers we hope that, they will take over the premiere league. To win the trophy, I will even go along with the drivers on their tours as much as I can. On their ways we figure out potential for improvements, to achieve a better grading.”

"We haven’t started until June to concentrate on economic driving and participating in driver trainings. It took another two months until the first 10.0 grade of the FleetBoard evaluation system has been achieved in our company. Then, we were ready for the Drivers’ League. During the competition we had an exciting duel with the “Edeltrucker”-Team which we won in the end due to a higher degree of difficulty. Our other truckers also did a really god job for the first participation. This is another incentive for all of us to participate again in the Drivers’ League next year."

Team winners 2007: Reinhold Kunze und Jürgen Breginski; Doego Fruchthandel und Import EG
"It is amazing. I have started together with my colleague Lothar with the humble hope of reaching a top position at the Drivers’ League. Three months before the championship started, we received driving lessons from three of our internal driving instructors. He said: “Jürgen, don’t use the service brake too much, try to use the wear-free one.” If foresighted driving becomes second nature to a person, you will never forget it anymore. Until the end though, I was anxious to get into an unforeseeable traffic situation which could have dashed all hopes. Given the horrendous fuel prices it is recommended to apply economic driving for automobiles, too."
Single winners 2007: Jürgen Heidasch, GP Günter Papenburg AG, (and runner-up Lothar Leib) "This is my first time being a contestant in the FleetBoard Drivers' League. My company asked me whether I would like to participate. For me as a driver it is a personal incentive to save fuel and minimize mechanical wear and tear. You just get further than you used to. Of course I would like to win the Drivers' League but whether I'll succeed or not – we'll see!" runner-up 2007: Lothar Leib, GP Papenburg AG, Germany "Our drivers really do enjoy looking at their results every week on FleetBoard to see where and if they can improve further. Our driver grading has risen in the last six months purely because our drivers want to better each other and compare tips on how they drive. We give away a monthly prize for the best overall FleetBoard driver and the best improver. This alone generates interest without the permanent opportunity for drivers, seeing how they compare in Europe." John Robson, 21st Century Logistics, United Kingdom
"It is the second time I participate in the FleetBoard Drivers' League. Last year I only achieved a place somewhere around 300 and now I am ranked at 26. This shows me how much I have improved. For me, driving is a passion and I like my job. Especially this month I have to drive perfectly as I want to be one of the best drivers. In my opinion, the Drivers' League offers a great opportunity to show my driving skills and compete with drivers from all over Europe." Driver 8TIM3, 8TIM SA, Romania
"I started driving trucks one and a half years ago and learned driving with FleetBoard from the beginning. At first I was busy keeping the truck on the road and could not focus on economical driving at all. It took a while until I could achieve my today's FleetBoard driving style grading. Now I have a good feeling when driving economically. Sometimes I match with my colleagues. Then we give hints to each other and discuss how to improve driving on difficult routes. Of course as a woman you are watched more closely in the trucking business – is she really able to do this properly? But generally speaking my colleagues are very kind and if I should need help I'll ask for it and I am usually helped at once. Most likely I will not reach the first place of the Drivers' League but I will try to outrun some of my colleagues." Female driver "14", Rothermel Internationale Spedition GmbH, Germany
"For sure, each of our drivers is anxious for good results at the FleetBoard Drivers' League. Moreover we have the possibility not only to compare in-house but also Europe-wide. Every Tuesday we put up the results on a blackboard and the drivers discuss how to improve their FleetBoard scores. In our opinion the Drivers' League is a good thing as it gives a variety to the daily business at the same time." Mr Wolferz, Rothermel Internationale Spedition GmbH, Germany
"The FleetBoard Drivers' League brings a most welcome variety in the daily business and gives the opportunity to compare your performance with other top drivers of different companies. The emphasis is placed on the sportive competition. The driver realises that economic driving is not only beneficial for the company but also enhances personal ambitions to improve driving skills." Arne Buchholz, GP Papenburg AG, Germany
"During the FleetBoard Drivers' League we can see clearly that the scores of each driver exceed the average scores they usually receive. Our drivers have a great interest in this event and the prizes are also an additional motivation and are well received by the drivers as well as the company." Mr Vagdatopoulos, Wimmer Transportdienst GmbH, Germany
"Since the introduction of FleetBoard last year our driver's scores have been constantly improving! Initially, using FleetBoard has been a challenge for the drivers. Most of them now accept on the fuel-saving way of driving. In order to avoid large variations in drivers' scores one of our drivers has been qualified as a coach for the others. In September we organized an internal qualifying and signed up our best drivers for the FleetBoard Drivers' League. In our opinion this event provides additional motivation for the driver to receive even better scores." Herbert Bärnreuther, Georg Bärnreuther GmbH, Germany
Statements 2006:
"We see the Drivers' League as a form of sport for the drivers, a welcome change from their daily routine, and we have approached our best drivers to see if they would like to take part in the Drivers' League. Since FleetBoard was introduced and the relevant training provided by the sales representative, our drivers have not only been producing consistently good results on a daily basis, but have even been motivating each other – no-one wants to look bad in front of the others. During the course of the Drivers' League they can compare their performance against the other competitors and there's no doubt that it motivates them to be up there with the best. Also from a business perspective we are all happy if our drivers are among the best. At first the introduction of FleetBoard took the drivers some time getting used to it, but now they see that it not only eases the burden both on their truck and on their boss's wallet, but also makes things easier for them. It also means they can play their part in reducing costs within the company thanks to their economical driving style." Mr Jürgen Schmid, Ludwig Schmid Transporte, Germany
"Since we started using FleetBoard the drivers' scores have been constantly improving. Our truck drivers receive regular training from the dispatchers. They are given an evaluation of their driving style, also including an on-screen analysis, and shown areas where they could potentially improve their performance. The drivers swap their experiences and give each other advice. A keen sense of competition seems to have evolved almost organically, resulting in clear cost savings for the company. For our company it went without saying that we would participate in the Drivers' League. It represented an additional incentive, a sporting challenge and also brought some fun and variety to the daily routine. The results show that our efforts have paid off. We really enjoyed taking part and are already looking forward to next year." Annegret Ricklinkat, Achse GmbH Kraftverkehr, Germany
Statements 2005::
"The driving competition gives you an additional incentive to try to drive with foresight and be at the top of the leader board. Every day we discuss, both within the company and within the team, where we stand, how we can improve and what solutions we can find to solve tricky driving situations." Bernd Dickbertel, AGRATA Agrarhandel GmbH, Germany
"Our drivers have been gripped by Olympic fever. Since the Drivers' League started they have been showing a particular interest in the detailed assessments. They have been looking more closely at key data relating to service and retarder brakes, gear-changing habits and RPM graphs, so they can then initiate appropriate steps to help improve their driving style." H.-J. Kohler, Grüne Radler und Gelbe Radler, Germany
